Walked to various East End markets today - Petticoat Lane, Spitalfields, Brick Lane.
The immigrant Jews who lived here for years have been replaced by East Indians. (Sorry, can't get spacing to work.)
The markets are full of amazing food stands.
This doorway says,
"Soup kitchen for the
Jewish Poor."
"5662 - 1902."
Hi Beth,
ReplyDeleteJust to correct you on one point, that area of the East End of London does not contain very many 'East Indians' at all. What it contains is the biggest Bangladeshi community in the world outside of Bangladesh. It would be a bit like me visiting Rome and concluding it is full of Portuguese people because they look just like the people I saw in Portugal.
