Sugar Beach

Rode my bike down to the lake and realized - of course, that's why the day is so silent and sublime - the Gardiner Expressway was closed for repair. Thousands of cars drowning us in fumes and cutting us off from the lake, not there. Just quiet and sunshine. Still, this city has tragically, absurdly little access to the vast body of water at its south end. Here's Sugar Beach, an artificial beach at the foot of Sherbourne Street,  one of the few places we see actual water.
Then I rode on to Corktown Common, a new beautiful park full of kids playing, parents watching, people sitting and walking. Sometimes the city gets things 100% right. Not for the last few years, though.

    Shame about that huge flyover, what were the planners thinking? Can anything be done about it?

    That was me commenting! Couldn't quite believe it last year, when we visited, what an eyesore it is. Poor planning, spoiling a beautiful lakeshore. Carole

    Ps. Good luck in Halifax, will be a visit filled with nostalgia. Plenty of pics please, Nova Scotia is one of the places I would love to visit. Carole

    By flyover, you mean the Porter planes coming and going all day over the lake? And they want more. Appalling. I will do my best to take lots of pix, Carole - just bought a camera to do just that. Now if I can only figure out how to download ... Onward! b.
